These type of bearings are used mainly as insert bearings used in mounted unit bearings such as pillow blocks. The holes goes through and they can be greased depends on the application. If you are using this in a closed system, you really do not even need the seals, atf fluid will keep the bearing lubricated. I would use it like it is, some atf fluid will go through holes but it would be OK in a closed system. OD is spherical (curved not flat) :
