Description: "NIGHT FOR SONGS AND STORIES" is a fine art serigraph by Taos Pueblo artist Jonathan Warm Day (1952 - ) who is well known for his acrylic on canvas paintings of Taos Pueblo history as well as being the author of books about the Pueblo and its people. This serigraph was done in 1994 at the time of the first Taos Talking Picture Festival, which used the original acrylic painting for advertising and promotion. There was also a promotional poster of this image produced by and sold at the festival. The serigraphs were originally offered at the festival where Jonathan Warm Day was designated official festival artist. Produced at Martin-John Graphics in Denver, Colorado using only the highest quality materials in inks and paper. Each print was hand registered and hand pulled. Imported hand made paper was used for each print with the image size 21"h x 27.5"w on 25"h x 32"w paper. The edition was limited to 180 signed and numbered prints, 18 Artist Proofs and 2 Printer's Proofs. Each print was titled and numbered in pencil by Jonathan WarmDay after the run was culled. Jonathan is the son of another well known artist, Eva Mirabal (Ea-Ha-Wa in Tewa.) She was a student at the Indian School in Santa Fe under Helen Hardin. She is well known as a muralist as well as being the author of the cartoon series G.I. Gertie during World War II. Jonathan's artistic style is attributed by him as being in honor of his mother and his mother's art. The image shows the family gathered in the evening in their pueblo dwelling listening intently to the story. As the story unfolds the shadow of a buck appears on the wall behind the storyteller. This is a large artwork and shipping will be done by US. Postal Service. Shipping method is in a 10"x10"x30" shipping box, which is large enough to avoid tightly rolling the serigraph.
