Description: This mola has an old traditional design though it is not old. The appliquéd shapes on this blouse front may or may not have specific meanings but some come mighty close to the symbols for male (circle with arrow) and female (circle with cross). The sexes, it seems, may have merged. Extremely detailed, this textile is sewn with practically microscopic stitching and uses a fair amount of single-line embroidery. The yellow and orange against a maroon background are a pleasing combination with great contrast. I see no evidence that it was worn but sewing shortcuts surely weren't taken! Probably dating from the 1970's, it is about 11x15. It has substantial borders for crafting or framing. I do not sell or ship internationally. [Boston Primitive]
