Description: The purpose of this early New York issue was to fund the expedition to Crown Point. Printed by James Parker on course paper. The front of this note features a serpentine column, the New York State Arms, and ornamental boarders. Below the State Arms, “Its DEATH to counterfeit this Bill” can be seen. The reverse of these bills were blank. Nice example besides some damage to the upper right corner. This 5 Pound note is much scarcer than the 10 Pound from this issue, with 4,000 originally printed and only 16 known to survive today.
