New Rear Open Back Panel Upgrade Kit for Vox AC15HW1 Handwired

Description: Handmade drop-in replacement rear / back panel set for your Vox AC15HW series combo amp! All you need is a screwdriver to remove old panels and install these new ones. This set was based on original vintage AC-15 combo cabinets from the 60's. Why upgrade? Well first, this looks better! Secondly, this panel set provides an improvement in sound and efficiency over the stock panels (which make the amp sound rather constipated! LOL). This panel configuration I came up with has a more open "port", 110 in.² to be exact, and positioned directly behind the speaker magnet. This is an increase of over 30 in.² from the factory opening and more closely resembling 60's vintage AC15's combo cabinets. This design also allows convenient access to store the AC power cord and footswitch inside cabinet - which the stock panel set would not allow. This panel set is covered in Vox Fawn tolex and additionally features metal shielding behind chassis to reduce hum and potential RF - which the stock panel doesn't even have ... GASP! Note: There is a subtle difference in the Fawn tolex I use on these compared to the tolex used by the Vox factory overseas. It is as close as I can get to the original as of now. Fortunately, with these panels being on the backside you don't notice it. Another note: Due to the slight difference in thickness of the board the factory uses compared to what is available here in the US, after you add the tolex and the metal shielding, it will sit slightly proud from the original. It's a perfect "Drop-in" replacement that uses all of your existing hardware from original panels which include 14 machine screws for top piece and six wood screws for bottom panel. I've even provided mounting holes for the ID plate. Unscrew the old one and mount it directly to the new top panel. Note: The bottom panel will need to have a pilot hole drilled for the two top screws - as the original panel did not have screws in this location but other than that it's pretty much a drop-in replacement.Here's a video explaining how these came about: https://youtu.be/Nx8AcjPdnGsHand made in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
