Description: From a Tucson estate is this Navajo cast silver buckle, likely crafted a good five or six decades in the long ago. The bench work is well accomplished, embracing a scale and aesthetic that still works very well today. Weight is very good for the form at about 31.1 grams on my portable digital scale - pretty much assuring it was made from a government supplied 1 ounce sterling silver ingot slug. There are no markings, which is exactly normal for the period of crafting. Condition is quite fine with a distinct aura of time to the surfaces. Be aware I have avoided every urge to refresh away or "improve" upon any natural toning - you want that done you do it. The surfaces under that patination are pretty clean, meaning this ornament saw little if any actual service before being stored away in that Tucson home. The applied hook and artisanally fabricated silver belt loop are still ready for duty. A look at the pics should give a good idea of appearance and condition. Size is about 2 5/8 in. horizontal and 1 19/32 in. vertical. The loop will accommodate up to about a 1 3/8 in. belt (1 1/4 in. is probably ideal) - and yes, I'm certain it will be noticed. If you prefer vintage for benefit of a history and road less travelled, or simply wish a single noticeable improvement to the ambiance of each day, this will have great meaning for youinkfrog terapeak
