Description: National Brotherhood Operative Potters ‘Royal China’ 22k ‘Treasure’ Dessert Bowl Royal China “Brotherhood of Operative Potters’ ‘Treasure’ Dessert Manufacture Date: 1936 East Liverpool, Ohio Discontinued Condition - Vintage condition - No chips, cracks w/very little light crazing. Size: 5 3/8" The Royal China ‘Treasure’ pattern is well-admired for its quality and craftsmanship. Each piece is designed with a spray of delicate floral spray of wildflowers in pink, blue, lavender, yellow, and green in the middle. 22K gold edges each piece with beautiful scrolling patterns. You can see the Art Deco influence in the geometrics on the rim of each piece. However, the delicate wildflowers bring in the well-loved florals seen in many china manufacturers throughout history. The ‘Treasure’ pattern combines both of the above and, as such, is a unique design that can work with both traditional Art Deco decor and more traditional floral decor. The Royal China Company manufactured dinnerware in Sebring, Ohio from 1934 to 1986. They produced a large variety of dinnerware patterns, over 1400, including the ‘Treasure’ pattern. The ‘Treasure’ pattern features 22K Warranted Gold Trim and a delicate center of wildflowers. Art Deco is a design style that originated in Paris in the 1910s and was popular in the United States and Europe from the 1920s to the early 1930s. Art Deco is short for the French phrase Arts Décoratifs, which means "decorative arts”. Royal China became the first dinnerware company to feature the National Brotherhood of Operative Potters (NBOP) label on their tableware in 1936. The NBOP was founded in 1890 by pottery workers and unionists in East Liverpool, Ohio who were dissatisfied with the Knights of Labor. The NBOP is associated with the American Federation of Labor.
