Description: [Mysticism] “Our Glorious Future - The Interpretation of “Light On The Path”” By Mabel Collins, 1917 2nd Edition 115pp, published by the Theosophical Book Shop in Edinburgh 1917 (the first edition being 1915). The book is a guide to interpretation of her popular 1885 book “Light on the Path”, which she had written with the help and assistance of the mystics Madame Blavatsky and Master Hillarion. Both books were intended as guides to the progress up the spiritual ladder without having detailed knowledge of eastern wisdom. This book is split into two parts - Self-Conquest and The Transmutation of Desire. Original blue cloth covers with decorative cover titles in black. Mabel Collins (1851 - 1927) could probably be described as a Theosophical radical. A popular and prolific author of both Theosophical understanding and occult novels, she wrote “Light on the Path” following numerous out of body experiences where she was taken to a hall, the walls of which had gold lettering which she remembered when waking to write down. All of this she retold to H.P. Blavatsky, who noted her association with the mysterious Master Hillarion. In 1889 Mabel was expelled from the Theosophical Society, supposedly for having affairs with H.P. Blavatsky’s assistants Archibald and Bertram Keightley and having engaged in tantric worship and black magic. She started as a renowned medium but in later years opposed spiritualism vigorously - her experiences as séances led her to believe that the practice was highly dangerous - a view also believed by Blavatsky. Approx. 130x190mm., light wear to cover extremities. Inside, old paper remainders from an old library label on front free endpaper together with a 1918 ownership inscription. Overall in very good condition and a rare later title by one of the most interesting and controversial figures of the Theosophical movement
