Description: We have a weakness for old working decoys and found this one a few years ago in an antique shop in Utah. We bought it and thought maybe we'd find others similar on line or in a book and possibly identify the carver. We have not been successful in ever finding another like it. Please look at the detail of the painting on its back and sides. We thought it quite unusual. Someone has gone to a lot of work painting those thin lines and swirls for a working decoy. The head is kind of rough carved but matches, has glass eyes, and appears original. At some point they must have wanted it to float higher in the water and added a plate underneath. The tail has had a chunk broken off. It is about the size of a mallard, possibly it was intended as a black duck. It measures not quite 16 inches from beak to tail. It is 7.5 inches tall including the plate. Width is 5 inches and weight is 2 pounds, 5 ounces We thought putting it on eBay and inviting anyone with information regarding it to let us know more about it. We listed it for sale in case someone else found it worthy of purchase. Pricing is a total guess and we are not offended by offers. Shipping will be under $15.00 within the U.S. and we accept returns for any reason within 30 days.
