Description: Monson Railroad station Monson JCT Abbot ME The Monson Railroad was chartered on November 1, 1882, and the road opened on October 22, 1883. Controlled by the Monson Slate Company through ownership of the majority of the capital stock. This company furnished most of the line’s traffic. Passenger service was discontinued on November 1, 1938. The railroad was abandoned in the fall of 1943 in favor of trucks.
