Up for sale is a nice antique book titled: MISS SELINA LUE and the Soap-Box Babies by prolific author Maria Thompson Daviess! This novel was first published in 1909, it was the author's first of many novels. This A. L. BURT edition was probably published a few years later. There is a name and date written on the first endpaper: Dec. 20, 1920 (see photo). The front cover and spine are nicely decorated. ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Maria Thompson Daviess (November 28, 1872 - September 3, 1924) was an American artist and feminist author. She is best known for her popular novels written in the early 20th century, with a "Pollyanna" outlook, as well as several short stories, among them, “Miss Selina Sue and the Soap-Box Babies," "Sue Saunders of Saunders Ridge" and "Some Juniors". Daviess was affiliated with the Equal Suffrage League in Kentucky, being the co-founder and vice-president of the chapter in Nashville and an organizer of the chapter in Madison. CONDITION: This antique book is complete and intact, in very good condition. The covers are in very good condition with light age-expected edge and corner wear, a small surface scuff on the front cover. The inside covers are in very good condition, with no cracking or separation present at the hinges. The pages are in very good to very good-plus condition, very nice, crisp, all pages are tight to the binding. The spine is in very good condition, the lettering is easily read. See Photos!
