Description: This Early War WW2 German Mauser K98k Rifle Bayonet Stud is in good, clean condition but does show expected signs of age and service. The parts attached to this rear sight assembly mostly appear to have been produced by Steyr Daimler Puch during World War 2. The absence of numbering on the backside of the rear sight leaf and the plum color of the leaf spring would strongly suggest Mid-War era production. Serial numbers are present on most parts, the only "non-matching" number being found on the sight leaf. Of interest, a "ghost image" of what appears to be another serial number is present on the backside of the leaf suggesting possible renumbering at some point in the past. The blued finish on the parts appears to be original and is mostly in good, strong condition however expected wear is detectable. All hardware is clean and functions as you would expect.
