This is one of the finest Duvells to have ever come through our doors, and that's all thanks to the impeccable choices our Mayones experts here made when speccing out this beautiful piece with our master luthier friends in Poland. It features some incredible custom features such as a swamp ash body, a stunning Flame Maple 5A top, pearl inlays, and a transparent natural-to-red gradient color we've dubbed Tequila Horizon Satin! The extended 27" scale length lets you easily downtune to an B without worrying about string wobble or ugly fret-slapping. Even if it's your first baritone or your first extended range guitar, the adjustment period is really minimal. Of course, the excellent design is propelled even further by the excellent craftsmanship. This one also features a Gotoh 510 tremolo bridge that offers range and tuning stability similar to a locking tremolo, while still being as easy to maintain as a vintage bridge for the best of both worlds! The custom-wound, Mayones-exclusive Bare Knuckle TKO pickup set is awesome! While definitely designed for high-gain chug, they surprised the players here at the shop with their awesome clarity on lower-gain settings, especially with the coil-split on the volume control. Of course, the TKOs excelled the most at aggressive distorted riffage, and we were very pleased with how both single notes and chords sounded huge without getting muddy. Load up all the saturation and distortion you want without ever worrying that your sound is going to get muddy or lose definition. They are high output and each set is custom wound for the specific model that it's going into. “Mayones and Bare Knuckle have a strong relationship going back many years so I was honoured when Dawid and his team asked me to design a custom humbucker set specifically for their guitars. The brief was to create a bridge and neck humbucker set voiced to reflect the playing styles of Mayones players and for the optimum translation of tone from these amazing guitars. Dawid sent over a Duvell and a Regius for me to use in R&D and over the course of several weeks the concept of the ‘TKO’ humbuckers was borne. A lot of Mayones customers play progressive, technical styles of rock so I decided to use a combination of ceramic powered bridge humbucker and Alnico V powered neck humbucker. This produces an excellent combination of power and range of tone, producing 3 very distinct tones from bridge, bridge/neck and neck selections on the pickup selector. Mayones guitars are extremely resonant due to the choice of premium timbers and construction methods and it was important that the pickups capitalised on this naturally rich, percussive tone. The ‘TKO’ bridge has plenty of output, bass notes track very quickly, mid range is punchy and highs sound full with plenty of weight behind each note. Neck tones are clean and open with a woody snap and great balance of output with the bridge. Mid position split coil tone is very tight and percussive with a very clear cut in the highs.
