Front is all scenes of Lahaina that have been destroyed due to the conflagration in Aug. The sad story and truth about the fire has been deleted. Not for fear of retribution..... but because somehow or other, I don't get the feeling readers and shopper really care. Having said that, I will give more info on the item itself. Size already stated. The scenes are iron on transfers, and yes, as much as they may try to restore Lahaina..... these are the actual landmarks that are now gone. Each picture is framed, practically with applique Hawaiian flowers. The whole cloth background is gold veined batik in brown with satin binding. Let me add, it is NOT easy to hand stitch transfers onto a quilt.... The transfer film is very thick and difficult to get a needle through. Painful too! But the thought of a sewing machine brings tears to my eyes. Furthermore, the entire back is done crazy quilt applique, layer upon layer of fabric once again hand stitched, with some other hawaiian transfers. This quilt is well worth this bid. It is entirely UNDER priced for the work. I love making quilts, and when they get sold, I don't mind not making as much as the competitive quilt makers.... I just enjoy the appreciation my customers show me. Everyone is original and rest assured because of the scope of hand investment NONE WILL EVER BE DUPLICATED..... so they are of course Marianne of Maui Originals! One of a kind!
