Description: 1931. Privately printed by T. Sellens (late Thurgate & Sons) Harrow, London W1. on the protective wrapper has been written: 'Poems by Margaret Couper ["A. Temple"] and, Four Satires By Mr Leslie Couper. 1931 Privately printed. Not published.'' Why the pseudonym 'A. Temple'? not sure, family nickname no doubt. On the reverse of the title page is printed: 'Several of the Poems now presented in this form originally appeared in "Country Life" and "Colour" and reproduced by courtesy of the Editors.' There follow 31 pages hand cut, with no foxing, markings or blemishes. Research reveals that Leslie and Margaret died in 1929, within a few months of each other. This publication was probably a tribute by their children. One of whom, Barbara had got married the year before and she was a successful playwright and actress listed in many newspaper reviews of the time. I like the conceit of one of Leslie's satires which outlines the advantages of reversing the ageing process, retaining the wisdom of age and then looking forward to physically getting younger... Very rare.
