Biron is the largest European brocante and antiquity market and the most prestigious antique market in the world. The poster was most probably printed during the late 1970s. "The Biron market is one of the flea markets of Saint-Ouen in Seine-Saint-Denis. At the beginning of the 20th century, threatened with eviction by the city, a group of flea merchants negotiates their installation on land near the Vernaison market , provided that real shops are built. Biron is the first attempt at town planning applied to flea markets with stands distributed along two parallel aisles. This market developed in opposition to its elder (Vernaison), by offering restored merchandise. Surrealist writers and poets like Colette or André Breton , but also painters like Utrillo , Picasso or Vlaminck , often came here in search of new forms of antiquity. Today nicknamed the "Faubourg Saint-Honoré des Puces", Biron offers high-end merchandise: furniture , tapestries, mirrors, lighting and tableware dating from the 18th, 19th and 20th century."
