Description: Marathon Man by William Goldman 1st UK Edition/1st UK Printing Very Good. This copy is in remarkably good shape for a book of it's vintage. The binding is tight, corners are sharp, no structural defects at all. There is a small spot on the top edge of the pages and a spot on the inside front board. As for the dust jacket, there are a couple of small creases on the front and back and a tiny scratch on the back. (see photos for details). Except for The Princess Bride, this is my favorite Goldman novel. It's smart, ingeniously plotted, very funny, and most of all, exciting. Goldman could just flat-out write and all of his skills are on full display here. This perfect novel was also adapted (by Goldman) into the classic movie of the same name, starring Dustin Hoffman and Laurence Olivier. What a supremely enjoyable book to read and this copy would make a very fine addition to anyone's library of modern firsts, Goldman fans, or just people who love good books. About the book: Tom "Babe" Levy is a runner in every sense: racing tirelessly toward his goals of athletic and academic excellence--and endlessly away from the specter of his famous father's scandal-driven suicide. But an unexpected visit from his beloved older brother will set in motion a chain of events that plunge Babe into a vortex of terror, treachery, and murder--and force him into a race for his life . . . and for the answer to the fateful question, "Is it safe?"
