Description: Oskar Schlemmer | Man. A Bauhaus Book Teaching Notes from the Bauhaus Edited and Introduced by Heimo Kuchling With a preface by Hans M. Wingler Translated by Janet Seligman Lund Humphries, London, 1971 First UK edition Hardcover in black cloth boards and yellow pictorial dust jacket 160 pages, with numerous black and white illustrations 254 mm x 184 mm x 20 mm Very good condition. Internally very clean and bright and without inscriptions. The dust jacket has a little sun fading consistent with age but is otherwise very good indeed with minimal signs of wear. An important primary source of a Bauhaus teacher. A beautiful and very hard to find book in wonderful condition. 'An attempt to achieve a synthesis of apparently divergent tendencies characterizes the notes presented here which Schlemmer left for his preliminary course. Concentration on a single theme - the representation of the human body - enabled him to set wide limits to his teaching and to include everything he considered important, so as to be able to elaborate it without losing the thread. His teaching was to be the rallying point of all the Bauhaus elements which he thought significant and of all that was still needed to give the students the feeling that they were receiving a balanced course of instruction.' © Text and photographs by room_606. Payment is required within 7 days. Non-paymentAll non-paying bidders are, without exception, reported to eBay. This is not for the sake of being vindictive, but because eBay charges retrospective fees calculated on the actual sale price of items and this money needs to be retrieved. Believe me it is becoming increasingly difficult to make ends meet on here as it is! Thank you for your understanding. Please refer to eBay's policy on non-payment for more information, including its ramifications for the bidder. If you have any doubts, please do ask before bidding.Condition of itemsPlease note that, unless clearly stated otherwise, my listings are for vintage/antique objects and therefore, by definition, are not going to be in the same condition you would expect from a brand new item. Please be assured that I always endeavour to offer the most accurate description possible of the item's condition and take multiple illustrative photographs. Vintage electrical itemsUnless explicitly stated otherwise in the description, vintage electrical items are always sold in their original condition so should always be safety checked by a qualified electrician (in the country of intended use) before use. ReturnsReturns may be made, if reported within 7 days and by prior arrangement only, if a mistake has been made in the listing and the item is not as described, but for no other reason. Unfortunately, because of the escalating costs of operating on eBay, simple buyer's remorse cannot qualify.
