Description: I have for sale a token for Major General Winfield Scott for his 1852 Presidential campaign. The token looks to be copper, it is1 1/8 inch in diameter and in circulated condition. When I purchased this token, it was covered with gunk, I have removed most of it. (see photos). The obverse shows the military bust of Scott and at the rim it reads MAJ, GEN. WINFIELD SCOTT U.S.A. The reverse at the rim reads SCOTT WOUNDED. - LUNDY'S LANE. The scene shows numerous soldiers assisting a wounded Scott who is lying on the ground at the battle of Lundy's Lane. The battle of Lundy's Lane, AKA Battle of Niagara Falls was a battle during the war of 1812 on July 25, 1814 in what is now Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada. Scott was a candidate for the Whig Party, but he lost to Franklin Pierce. H.W. Hayden was the medalist for this token. Please see more in my EBAY STORE at TE Collectables. (18,246)
