Description: LUXMAN FQ 900 STEREO RECEIVER ITEM DESCRIPTION: This is a fully functioning vintage Luxman. It has been recently cleaned and serviced and PERFORMS BEAUTIFULLY. This is an opportunity that rarely comes around, the chance to own one of the most sought after vintage mammoth receivers from the 70's. This receiver is in constant demand by collectors of vintage stereo equipment. The demand is due to both its rarity and its quality of performance. The Luxman FQ 900 (and its sucessor FQ 990) represent a pinnacle of audio engineering from one of the 70’s leading Hi Fidelity manufacturers and their desire to make a BIG statement in the ‘Receiver Wars’ of the 70’s. This was Luxman’s response to the Sansui 9090, the Yamaha CR-2020 / 3030 and the Pioneer 1250. Of the ‘Big 4’ makers, Luxman, in terms of volume of production was the smallest. Luxman claimed to use only the best components available with designs by the best engineers. The result? The amplification is POWERFUL. The clarity of sound is AWESOME. The only weakness is the FM tuner performance, but who cares because if you must have a tuner, they are plentiful, and quite frankly better than the tuners of ‘70s. Where this Luxman powerhouse excels is with vinyl. I ran this unit with a JA Michell Hydraulic Reference Turntable, and Bose 901s on the front and 501s on the back, and the beautiful sound brought tears to my eyes. SELLER COMMENTS: I am the original owner of this Luxman FQ 900. It was purchased new at the Ramstein Air Base PX in Germany. This unit has been babied all its life. It has been recently cleaned and serviced and SOUNDS GREAT. It needs a new, loving home. I prefer to sell it locally in the Chicago area, but I will ship it if you pay for top quality packing, shipping and insurance. Please see my other Luxman audio equipment for sale on eBay. CONTACT ME: If you want me to ship this item to you, you must contact me to discuss how that will occur. I did not take care of this beautiful receiver for the last 50+ years to see it get trashed in shipping. Did I mention it weighs 40 pounds? NOTE 1: This Luxman has a POWERFUL amplifier. Do not think about hooking it up to inferior speakers, because you will turn the speakers into toast. How do I know? I have done it, the 1st by accident and the 2nd to prove the point to some non-believers. Toast. NOTE 2: This item is sold "as is" and "no returns". NOTE 3: The last two photos in the listing are of a BIC 71-3R, which was licensed to BIC by Luxman, and with the exception of the branding is identical to the Luxman FQ 900. This is a parts unit that I will provide with the "Buy It Now" option. If you purchase that option the BIC parts unit will also be shipped to you (double the shipping cost - 2 receivers that each weigh 40 lbs). With the rarity of these receivers, and the unavailability of parts, a spare parts donor unit is a really good idea.
