Description: Born in Paris as the son of Arthur Lelong, the owner of a fashion store, he trained in Paris and opened his fashion house in the early 1910s. The first Lelong designs were featured in Vogue magazine in 1913. Poor health caused the end of his career; Lelong retired from couture in August 1948 and only continued his perfume business. This is a rare find and a very beautiful high quality loose powder compact. It is quite weighty at 6 ounces (about 200 grams). You will find it lightly used in excellent condition with its original box with original sifter and powder puff. Probably made in the late 40’s. A great collectors item. I will be sorry to part with it.
