Description: Lowbrow Customs WX Split Gas Tank 36-84 Harley Panhead Shovelhead chopper bobber The beauty and simplicity of Lowbrow Customs' WX Gas Tanks is that with the included, innovative rear mount they will bolt right up to your stock Harley-Davidson Big Twin frame from 1936 - 1984. Get a custom, narrowed look with a tight gap between the tanks and no fabrication required. These are the perfect tanks for a custom Shovelhead or Panhead chopper, bobber or custom motorcycle. The WX Gas Tanks from Lowbrow Customs are directly influenced by the Harley-Davidson WR, but with an innovative design that allows these new gas tanks to fit almost a half-century's worth of motorcycles. In 1946 Harley-Davidson introduced the WR factory racer, a 45 cubic-inch flathead designed to dominate the flat tracks and road courses in America. The narrowed tanks were part of the slim profile and 'all-business' form that follows function when it comes to a fast and nimble motorcycle. WX Gas Tanks have a capacity of 2.25 gallons for both tank sides combined (not 2.25 gallons for each side) and feature both a vent and fuel crossover and accept a stock-style 22mm H-D style petcock and accept standard cam-style Harley-Davidson gas cap. The long-skirted Eaton style gas caps look great on WX Tanks, as do the standard chrome bayonet gas caps or black bayonet gas caps. NOTES: A non-vented gas cap is not needed for the WX tank; the filler neck bungs are identical on the right and left sides (unlike stock 1965-1982 dual tanks). A vented, bayonet style cap should be used on both the left and right hand tank. If you are having issues with the left hand cap weeping fuel when the tank is very full, we recommend using a dab of silicone to plug the vent hole on the cap. It is highly recommended to fit your gas tank to your bike before painting. Check for clearance or mounting issues as different combinations of triple trees, risers, and handlebars may cause clearance issues when turning. Tanks are pressure tested but it is highly recommended that you or your painter pressure test it again before painting; it's cheap insurance!
