Description: This is a small, original oil painting by Danish-American artist Louis Isak Napoleon Jensen. Titled "Bornholm," the painting depicts a rocky seacoast on the Isle of Bornholm, Denmark. The painting is signed by the artist and is unframed. It measures 9.2 inches high and 12.1 inches wide and was likely produced between 1870-1908. Jensen was known for his impressionist-influenced style in many landscapes & seascapes done both in Denmark and American and this painting is an original signed on the lower right side in red oil paint “L Jensen”. On the back of the board there is a partial manufacture’s label for the artist’s board that includes ink notes with the artist’s name and the location of the painting. This writing seems to be from the date of the painting. There is also some pencil notations that seem to reference the framing instructions. The frame no longer survives. Jensen was born on the Danish Isle of Bornholm. He left his home for Chicago, Illinois early in his career. He bought land back in Denmark and built a studio. He travelled back and forth between Denmark and Chicago. The painting is in excellent condition. It was cleaned several year’s ago, Please note that the colors of the first two photographs are very close to the original greenish-blues. The details are bluer. 9.2” High 12.2” Wide
