Description: This is a LOT OF 5 Vintage pocket knives that were made in the mid-20th Century and are in good condition although they all need various degrees of clean-up. Three were made in the USA (HAMMER BRAND, THORNTON, and WARDS), one from Japan (GESCO), and one from Germany (WISMAR). Please see the pictures. The HAMMER BRAND (made by IMPERIAL) 2-Blade jack knife measures 3.2" long closed and has a 2.4" Clip point blade and a 1.75" long Pen blade. Open and close is tight and the blades still have some snap. It has nickel silver bolsters and a steel liner. The Shell handles are in good condition except for a chip on one side. The tang is stamped HAMMER over BRAND over the company's Arm and Sledgehammer logo. That dates this knife to 1936-1941. The WARDS 3-Blade Stockman measures 3.6" long closed and has a 2.4" long Clip point blade, a 2" long Pen blade, and a 1.75" long Drop point blade. It also has a broken Punch which is the only damaged blade in this lot. It has nickel silver bolsters and a steel liner. The black handles are made of a Delrin like plastic and are in fair condition with small crack near one of the brass pins. The tang is stamped WARDS over MADE IN USA. That's a mark used by MONTGOMERY WARDS between 1935 and 1950. The THORNTON 2-Blade jack knife measures 3.25" long closed and has a 2.3" long Drop point blade and a 1.75" long Pen blade. Both blades still have very strong SNAP. The black handles are made of a smooth Delrin like plastic and are in good condition with just surface scratches. The tang is stamped with an arched THORNTON over U.S.A. This was a brand used by the FEDERAL KNIFE CO. of Johnston, R.I. It was started by two former employees of the Colonial Knife Co. in nearby Providence and only operated between 1944 and 1949. The GESCO JAPAN 2-Blade BARLOW is in excellent condition and both blades have strong SNAP. It measures 3.4" long closed and has a 2.5" Drop point blade and a 2" Pen blade. It has nice sawcut Delrin handles and what looks like a large nickel silver bolster. The tang is stamped GESCO over JAPAN over 1. This one was likely made in the 1970s. The WISMAR CUTLERY 2-Blade Pen Knife was made in GERMANY and has FAUX MOTHER OF PEARL handles that are in very good condition. It measures 2.75" long closed and has a 1.75" Drop point blade and a 1.25" smaller blade that still have some snap. It has nickel silver bolsters and a brass liner. The tang is stamped WISMAR over CUTLERY over GERMANY. The age of this knife is unknown but the company itself dates back to 1900.
