Description: "Loose Lips Sink Ships" According to Wikipedia, "'Loose lips sink ships' is an American English idiom meaning "beware of unguarded talk". The phrase originated on propaganda posters during WWII." It's a phrase that I've always kept in mind as a reminder that you never may know who is listening in. I figured that it adapts well to the Golden Age of Piracy as well, since many times word of a treasure laden ship would make its way the eagerly waiting ears of a pirate captain looking for a fat prize to hunt! On the front of the coin, I have wrapped the phrase around a skull with its finger held up to say "Shhh," with a sunken ship below it. I had a lot of fun designing the reverse side! It features three skulls in the traditional "See No Evil, Hear No Evil, Speak No Evil" positions, with cutlasses separating them. I decided to go in a more...pirate...direction for the wording though! "I Didn't See Shit, I Didn't Hear Shit, I Ain't Saying Shit" This is a 1.75" diameter coin made in antique nickel with antique copper details, and an aged appearance to look as if it came straight out of the Golden Age of Piracy.
