Description: Hello and thanks for stopping by. Available for your consideration is this Canadian National Railways "Northern-Type", brass cylinder plate (And Frame). This plate came from the extensive and magnificent collection of William Robert Wilson. His collection was recently sold by Miller and Miller Auctions near Toronto, Canada. I'm an honest seller who believes in full disclosure. I can confidently say that this plate never rode the rails. The original bolt holes were too small - I have redrilled them to the proper size. The plate itself is the correct size (I already have a pair of Northern-Type plates). The weight is correct at about 2.5 pounds. The metallurgy / patina is absolutely consistent with my other "Northern-Type" and "Mountain-Type" plates. If you review the Miller and Miller Auction, you will see that Mr. Wilson did not collect replicas. To be noted, the letters on this plate are slightly wider than normal. As seen in the excerpt from Don McQueen's book, "Canadian National Steam", these plates did come from different manufacturers and had variances. After having had this plate in my hands, it is my belief that this was crafted by / for the CNR either as a prototype or a defective cast. The two nut and bolt assemblies which I crafted are included. The picture frame shown IS included. I custom made it by deepening the sides of a commercial frame to accommodate the bolts. Afterwards, it was sprayed with Behr's Premium Hammered Black Gloss paint. It gives the frame a slightly reflective metallic appearance. For the background, I custom cut and drilled a new piece of ABS plastic with a textured finish. As you can see, the plate displays beautifully.
