The book is undated, but please see the last picture, which shows the entry in Edgar Vail's "Early American Editions of the Works of Charles Dickens," and names this edition, including a question mark next to the date, indicating it was undated. Original spine remnants have been rebacked with brown bookcloth. Well-worn board edges (please see pics.) Penciled inscription has been erased from darkly-tanned endpapers. Front and rear gutters have been sealed with rice paper saddles. Original frontispiece tissue is intact. Engravings are tanned, as they are printed on more acidic pulp. Very tight and square binding; very clean, bright, and crisp text.
