Description: Listed Mid 20th C. Italian Artist Pier Luigi Cesarini (1933-2006) Signed, on lower right and reverse, this Wonderful Trompe L'oeil Still Life - Strawberries & Jug/Ewer. It is an Original Oil on a Masonite board from the 1960's - 1970's and is composed using the trompe l'oeil technique (a visual illusion in art, especially as used to trick the eye into perceiving a painted detail as a three-dimensional object), for which he is best known. Four, slightly pale but freshly picked strawberries sit randomly in front of a squat, two-toned jug or ewer, a pitcher with a handle and spout. Damage in the wall behind reveals the brick or tile-work behind. Adding to the visual illusion are clear drops of water, on the jug and around the berries. 3 7/8" Wide, Dark (Very), Antiqued Gold and Brown, Angled scoop with a flat panel, wood moulding with decoration around the inner edge is included in this listing. We are confident the frame is original to the piece. There are scuffs, nicks and some lost decoration but the frame retains quite a bit of character and is rather substantial (weighs about 4 lbs.).Board measures 8 X 10 and is in Very Good Vintage condition. Outside measure of the frame is 15 1/4 X 17 1/4 and is in Fair to Good Vintage condition.Please carefully examine all images for condition.Shipping fee includes Delivery Insurance.
