Description: Limited Edition Print of Mexican Lucha Libre Wrestler Signed by Popular Mexico City Artist - number 10/30 Professionally framed at Cuadro Galerías in Mexico City Lucha Libre through the lens of identity and changing social and economic structures has moved way beyond the arena of just a wrestling match and into the arena of cultural identity. Inspiring collectors’ items, film posters, and memorabilia adding cultural context and highlight Lucha Libre’s long, storied history and impact in Mexican culture. Lucha Libre "freestyle wrestling" is the Mexican-style professional wrestling (staged performances with predetermined outcomes) originating in Mexico. Since its introduction to Mexico in the early 20th century, it has developed into a unique form of the genre, characterized by colorful masks, rapid sequences of holds and maneuvers, and "high-flying" maneuvers, some of which have been adopted in the United States, Japan, and elsewhere. The wearing of masks has developed special significance, and matches are sometimes contested in which the loser must permanently remove his mask, which is a wager with a high degree of weight attached. Tag team wrestling is especially prevalent in lucha libre, particularly matches with three-member teams, called trios. Lucha libre wrestlers are known as luchadores (singular luchador, meaning "wrestler"). Lucha libre has become a loanword in English, as evidenced by works such as Los Luchadores, ¡Mucha Lucha!, Lucha Mexico, and Nacho Libre. Lucha Libre has become so iconic in Mexican pop culture that it was declared an intangible cultural heritage of Mexico City. Screenprinting is a process where ink is forced through a mesh screen onto a surface. Making certain areas of the screen impervious to printing ink creates a stencil, which blocks the printing ink from passing through the screen. The ink that passes through forms the printed image. A limited edition print is essentially a commitment not to produce more copies of an art print beyond the predefined quantity announced during its publication. This commitment is reinforced by assigning a unique sequence number to each print along with the total edition size. Most limited editions follow a similar numbering convention, typically positioned in the lower left corner of the print, outside the main image. For example, you might find an inscription like 161/500. This signifies that the specific print you have is number 161 out of a total edition of 500 A limited edition print is usually always signed.
