The F-86 was built with the wings swept back to reduce drag and increase speed, and it was capable of breaking the sound barrier in a dive. The first squadron was operational in 1949. In December 1950, U. S. pilots flying F-86s first began the historical large-scale jet fighter combat against the Soviet built Mig-15s in Korea. The last F-86 Sabre was delivered to the U.S. Air Force in December 1956. This is new still in box.
