However, if the plate where it attaches to the backboard is also bent-and it's actually somewhat common if the basketball system falls hard-then you will need a new backboard and rim. Getting a new rim may help, but if the place where it attaches to the backboard is bent, then the rim will still slant upwards or downwards depending on how it fell.
