Description: LEAD SHEET for weighting Rivarossi Corrugated–Side (1940’s) Passenger Cars. LSW078 = 7/8 inch wide ( 27/32nds x 12 x 0.050± inches thick) ≈ 2.7 ounces Each lead sheet is less than 1/16th (0.062) inch thick. The long edges of the sheet may have a small ‘burr’ from slitting. This product was originally intended for the Rivarossi Corrugated–Side (1940’s) Passenger Cars.However, it also fits ALL the other Rivarossi passenger cars with great ease!For use in the Rivarossi 1940's Corrugated-Side Cars: You may trim around the rectangular protrusions on the chassis however it is much more practical to remove those protrusions. With a flush-cut nippers and cut the ribs that are perpendicular to the sides flush with the long ribs. Then cut a triangle out of the perpendicular ribs (a relief cut). This is to prevent distorting the long (stiffener) ribs. The flush-cut nippers can then be used to remove the majority of the protruding ribs without deforming the long stiffener ribs. The chassis may then be smoothed with a chisel blade and sandpaper. Then trim the sheet to fit inside the remaining stiffener ribs. The lead sheet is soft and easily cut with regular scissors, or hand-held single hole-punch. Only holes for the screws are needed. (A hole-punch can easily penetrate the lead sheet to make holes.) As necessary, the lead may be flattened with a “brayer” roller. A hammer will dent and deform the lead. After test fitting and you are satisfied with the fit, glue the sheet inside the chassis floor for support and to prevent rattling. Use a liquid adhesive such as automotive weather stripping adhesive. (Lead sheet is not capable of ‘self-support’.) I attempt to provide the most accurate description possible.
