Description: LEAD SCREW FORWARD-NEUTRAL-REVERSE DRIVE GEAR SET LEAD SCREW FORWARD-NEUTRAL-REVERSE DRIVE GEAR SET This is an assembly for your DIY lathe project. Here you have a complete assembly to install in or design your lead screw drive. The kit has 2 double gear idlers, 1 drive gear and a sliding shifter gear to attach to your lead screw. The drive gear keeps both double gears turning, one goes forward and the other in reverse. By sliding the shifter gear along the lead screw keyed shaft, in one direction it engages the forward turning gear and in the other direction it engages the reverse turning gear. In between the gears it contacts neither, giving you a neutral position. You will just need to measure out where your mounting points are for the gear assembly and fit the shifter gear to your lead screw. The shifter gear has a keyway along the inside and a groove on the outside for you shifting fork. The dual gears have oilite bronze bushings and the shafts are precision machined . Please note, the bracket shown in the photos is not included, it was just used to show the mounting positions. These are new old stock items, so you may need to clean them with mineral spirits to remove the old preservative coating. This kit is a huge time and money saver if you are building your own lathe project- it would take lots of dollars to source all these components.
