Description: Laurelville, Ohio, Civil War token, OH-445-A 1a, Single Merchant Town, copper, R-4. The obverse shows the merchant as "Geo. D. RIEGEL, DRY GOODS AND GROCERIES, LAURELVILLE, OHIO". The reverse shows a right facing Liberty head, wearing a cap, with stars around the border of the upper two-thirds at the edge, and the date, 1863, at the bottom. The reverse here shows a few contact marks on the face of Liberty, a mark in the field in front of Liberty, and a heavier contact at the edge of the lower right quadrant, crossing lengthwise over the denticles. The obverse shows two longer marks across some of the lettering at the top and bottom half, a heavier mark at about the 9:00 o'clock position, into the field. There are a couple of marks on the face of the rim, and a mark at the edge crossing the denticles, that corresponds to the mark on the reverse.
