Description: “Laura” is a young ballerina 34” tall created by Philip Heath. She entered the doll scene in 1999 as the very best sculpt in his Ultimate Collection for the year. Out of real care for this dancer, Philip made only Laura. This distinguishes her from his other beautiful young women and brides where he would make a Version I in full detailed ethnic costume and a version II usually very simply dressed.Philip Heath traveled the world looking for expressive faces as inspiration for his sculptures. Laura was one of the last sculpts done for Gotz. Unfortunately for the doll world, Philip Heath passed away in 2011, making his incredible sculptures very limited in supply. Being number 188 in a Limited Edition of only 400 makes Laura truly RARE. Laura's ballerina costume is best described from the inside out. She wears white knit short leggings under four layers of ivory netting used to give great fullness to long full skirt of her dance dress. Her costume is made with ivory silk bodice laced up the back and silk 3/4 sleeves, both in embroider trimmed ivory silk. There is a lightly gathered sheer yoke bound in silk around the neck which is attached to the bodice front and back and continues all the way around her shoulders attached to the off shoulder sleeves. The skirt of the costume has three layers, one long ivory sheer layer, a second ivory sheer layer about 5 inches shorter than the first with Philip Heath's initials on it. The third layer is ecru crinkle sheer well gathered at the waist and only about 10 inches in length. On her feet are actual satin toe shoes fit for the ballerina she is. Please expand the photos to really appreciate the attention to detail and quality in detail ofPhilip Heath's "Ultimate" design.Laura has blue grey eyes. Her straight long hair is ash blond and styled casually as twisted and pinned in the back of her head. Many strands escape the pins and fall gently down one side of her face as she dances. She has never been redressed. Laura has her original hang tags and Certificate of Authenticity containing the artist's picture on both. Unusual for most dolls done by Gotz, the COA is an actual numbered 8" x11" document which is presented in a dark Blue envelope tied with hefty light rope and sealed in a plastic bag along with the usual Gotz oval tags. She has her original box. The stand does not come with her. She has been displayed in low light in air conditioned, non smoking environment and is in nearly new condition.
