Description: The Lincoln Penny was first minted in 1909 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln's birth. The obverse features a remarkable portrait of Lincoln by sculptor Victor D. Brenner. President Theodore Roosevelt personally commissioned Brenner to create the portrait for the coin. It was the first circulating coin to feature a real person instead of the allegorical Lady Liberty. Until 1958, this classic coin was struck with the famous "wheat ears" reverse design that is a tribute to America's agricultural heritage. The wheat ears design was replaced with the Lincoln memorial on the reverse in 1959. This collection features on wheat ears coin from each of the last 10 years of issue, 1949 to 1958. Collection is presented in a Collectors display folder with a Certificate of Authenticity.
