This is ‘Fidibus’ (Spill in English) form. It has shape of onion head with long neck and wide opening, standing on round bowl like pedestal. Vase is of blank white background. Its lowers side is decorated with vertical gold lines and arabesques. The upper side features magnificent painting of multicolored Meissen or Dresden flowers. Pedestal and rim are decorated with gold bands. Another gold band separates two parts of vase. It is fully glazed. Looks splendid. Karl Friedrich Schinkel (1781 –1841) designed this vase. He was a Prussian architect, city planner, and painter who also designed furniture and stage sets. Schinkel was one of the most prominent architects of Germany and designed both neoclassical and neogothic buildings. He influenced the shaping of Prussian classicism as nobody else. His reference collection about the role of models for manufacturers and artisans was used as basis for KPM style. Between his most known works for KPM are sugar basket designed in 1810 for Prussian Queen Luise, cart commissioned by King Friedrich Wilhelm III as a wedding gift for his daughter Charlotte - the future Russian Tsarina Alexandra Feodorovna, famous KPM Trumpet form. Fidius is perhaps his second most famous and known form. Vase on this auction is marked on the backside with scepter mark in blue under glaze. The scepter mark was introduced when Frederick The Great bought the factory. This is production of 1945 - 1962.Vase measures about 3 1/4” in diameter and stands 3 1/2” tall. Condition is immaculate with no cracks or chips found. Gold has no wear. There is one scratch mark on the backside. We do not see any issues with this vase. It displays very well.
