Description: Humorous vintage offset lithographic bookplate on heavy stock paper, with facsimile signature of the cartoonist, humorist, illustrator Bernard "Hap" Kliban. This is an original bookplate from a first printing of a book containing a collection of Kliban's calendar cat drawings of the 1970's and 1980's - not a copy or modern reprint. This print's overall measures is approximately 10 1/2" x 8 1/2". The actual image area measures approximately 9" x 6 3/4". This print has ample margins all around the image area making it easy for matting and framing. The print is smooth and flat with no bends or creases. There is light toning around the edge of the print due to the age of the paper and exposure to air. However, the image area is bright and clean. There is a small cat illustration with text of a month printed on the left corner of the reverse side, but does not show through on the front side. This print is unmounted, ready for matting or framing. This print would look stunning framed with mat, or as-is with a backer board to stiffen the print. With a little trimming and a backer board, the print will fit nicely into a standard 8 x 10" frame - see illustration frame. You may want to prevent the print from directly coming in contact with the glass of the frame. The example framed print and the frame are for illustration only and are NOT included with the print up for sale. The print will make a perfect gift for your favorite cat lover or Kliban fan.
