Item specifics are: Film 1: A Brighter Day in Your Kitchen (1949) COLOR Runtime 19 minutes Focus on meal preparation with our own home economist talking to American women about food; some great kitchen and cooking shots. Release Date: 1949 Entered the Public Domain: 1978 Film 2: Practical Dreamer (1957) COLOR Runtime 13 minutes A fantasy of kitchen planning and modernization. With Augusta Roeland and Rege Cordic. Not Happy With Bob In The Bedroom ....Edie Gets Her Cookies Off In A Surreal Kitchen....With A Strange Man...Then She Goes Back To Bed & Bob Never Hears Her Moaning With Delight On The Squeaky Bedsprings! Release Date: 1957 Entered the Public Domain: 1986 Film 3: A Word to the Wives (1955) FADED COLOR Runtime 13 minutes Talk about 1950s stereotypes! So Jane wants to have a modern kitchen just like her friend does, in order to have more time to go shopping. You also have the stereotypical bumbling husband (played by Darren McGavin of 'A Christmas Story') who is clueless in the kitchen (like making rice is that complicated?). The makers of this film intended it be viewed seriously. But now 50 years later, it is hopelessly outdated. With changes in family roles and income distribution, I doubt that todays audience could identify with the fictional characters ,However the film is valuable in illustrating social history,,,On another level, the film can be enjoyed as a mildly amusing comedy. Release Date: 1955 Entered the Public Domain: 1984 Film 4: A Day in the Life of a Kitchen (1960) COLOR Runtime 6 minutes Excellent film about a typical day in modern kitchen. Mom is "operations chief" - she creates and prepares in the kitchen. Release Date: 1960 Entered the Public Domain: 1989 Film 5: Match Your Mood (1968) COLOR Runtime 6 minutes Promotional film for Westinghouse refrigerator line featuring a system of sticker-like decorations enabling purchasers to style their appliances as they choose. Vague hippie-type flower-power graphics; scenes of mod-dressed middle-class conventional people. Release Date: 1968 Entered the Public Domain: 1997 Film 6: Frigidaire Imperial Line (1956) COLOR Runtime 20 minutes Promotional film for Frigidaire dealers showing features of the new Imperial Line of refrigerators. Release Date: 1956 Entered the Public Domain: 1985 Film 7: Frigidaire Finale (1957) FADED COLOR Runtime 3 minutes A sincere and delightful dance duo, both in formal wear, playfully chase each other through a statue-garden of appliances. The music swells with romantic violins as they open refrigerator doors and display ice cube trays. Release Date: 1957 Entered the Public Domain: 1986 Film 8: Last Word In Automatic Dishwashing (1950) B&W Runtime 21 minutes Great little film about an odd little appliance, the Youngstown Dishwasher, a device which was novel in the day, but because of the design, was replaced by the more familiar design we have today. Very much designed like a washing machine, this machine had a central revolving sprayer which supposedly sprayed off all the food particles. Not too convincing demonstrations are shown, and Mrs. housewife is all to happy and it shows some great trade ads for the dishwasher as well. Release Date: 1950 Entered the Public Domain: 1979 Film 8: Whirlpool Washing Machine commercial (1970) COLOR Runtime 55 SECONDS An intentionally funny commercial for a Whirlpool Washing Machine. "It rolls on casters!" Release Date: 1970 Entered the Public Domain: 1999 I claim ownership and rights to this media. All the films on this DVD have been researched and are copyright free or the copyrights have expired due to non renewal.
