Description: This is a Karastan Rug, made in Fieldcrest Mills, North Carolina, United States of America. I stress this point because eBay utilizes flawed AI that keeps identifying these AMERICAN MADE RUGS as embargoed NON USA goods illegal to sell and removes my listing. Please see below for a brief but lovely history of the Karastan product. This rug is from the cherished 700 series Karastan is so well known for (except the idiots who wrote and support eBay’s AI). The pattern style is 717 multi Panel Kirman. It is measuring 2’ 4” x 4’ and is in great condition with no odors or stains. The side serging is flawless. Fringe completely in tact. Full pile throughout. Don’t miss out. Professionally cleaned. The rug will arrive rolled and boxed, or rolled and wrapped. Please see all images for condition details. Any questions, please ask. PLEASE SEE MY OTHER ITEMS I do my best to minimize shipping costs. I utilize mostly recycled packing materials whenever possible (boxes, styrofoam peanuts, bubble wrap, and wrapping paper). If I have utilized bubble wrap, you will find that I have created a pull-tab on the tape I used to secure wrap to facilitate easier removal. CAUTION: Please be aware, I may utilize styrofoam peanuts in the packing of my items. Not only are these annoying when unpacking but can also be a CHOKING HAZARD to small children and pets. If you have these concerns, please take the appropriate precautions as to the surroundings of where you open and unpack your items. Karastan is an American made brand of oriental rugs, made from 1928 to 2021 from worsted wool. In 1921, the American retailer Marshall Field's established a textile mill in Eden, North Carolina, USA, as part of its Homecrest Rug division. In 1928, one of its engineers, Eugene Clark, modified the Axminster broadlooms to make something closely resembling a handwoven carpet. These rugs were then marketed under the invented name "Karastan" with individual names based on famous rug-producing areas in Asia such as Ispahan, Kirman, Sarouk, Oushak or Turkoman. The brand made a name for itself at the 1933 Chicago World's Fair, when a Karastan rug was placed on the floor for 12 million people to walk across, proving its durability. The 1937 "Kirman 717" carpet became the company's bestseller, and proved so durable that it is now also traded as an antique. In 1953, the rug business was sold to a Boston investment company and reincorporated as Fieldcrest Mills. That company merged with the textile company Cannon Mills to become Fieldcrest Cannon in 1986, resulting in a bankruptcy as well as mass layoffs and labor disputes. In 1993, Mohawk Industries purchased the Karastan business. In 2021, it closed the Eden production facilities and ended wool rug production, consolidating its textile production in Georgia where synthetic carpets will continue to be made under the Karastan brand. Introducing a stunning Karastan rug from the late 19th-early 20th century. This traditional rectangular rug features a beautiful Sarouk regional design in red and midnight blue colors, made with high-quality wool material and a power-loomed weave. The rug's pile height is 1/3" and it measures 3 x 5 ft, making it a perfect addition to any room in your home. The rug's traditional style and flower theme will add an oriental touch to your decor. It is recommended to professionally clean this original, USA-made rug to maintain its quality. This Karastan rug is a must-have for any antique or rug enthusiast.
