Description: I have for sale a souvenir medal from the 1898 Free Street Fair that was held in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Kalamazoo was settled in 1829, incorporated as a village in 1843 and became a City in 1884. This medal has two parts, it is made of gilded metal, 2 15/16 inches long, 1 1/2 inch at the widest point and its in a high grade circulated condition. The top pin back bar is ornate and the text on the bar reads OFFICIAL SOUVENIR. The bottom piece shows a celery stalk in the background and on the front tablet it reads KALAMAZOO - FREE - STREET FAIR - OCT. 4-5-6-7, 98.. The medal was made by Schwaab & Co. of Milwaukee.
