The author has twice featured on the Booker International Prize lists for his 'Septology' series. ** After years of being mentioned as a strong candidate, on 5 October 2023, Mr Fosse was named as the Winner of the 2023 Nobel Prize for Literature. He is the 4th Norwegian to have won the prize but the first for almost a century, since Sigrid Undset won in 1928. ** 'A Shining ', published on 1 November 2023 by Fitzcarraldo Editions, London, 1st edition / 1st printing, medium modern paperback original, 48 pages + copyright page at rear. Translated from the Norwegian by Damion Searls. Hand signed by Jon Fosse to a loose official publisher bookplate (the ink is smudged at the tail of the 'e'). Internally in As New unread condition, paperback original in the usual blue french flaps with white lettering that is standard for 1st printings of all fiction titles released by this publisher. Externally fine. ** Any signed 1st printings of Mr Fosse's works are very uncommon and are almost always to a publisher bookplate - they are now, of course, highly collectable since his prestigious Nobel Prize for Literature win.
