Remember the car hops wearing roller skates, the area of the parking lot only for hot rods, Funland’s Kiddie Amusement Park and the great food. This iconic place was Jolly Cholly’s located on Route 1 in North Attleboro, Mass. Jolly Cholly’s open in 1954 and originally sold hamburgers and French fries but soon expanded to include Pizza, fried clams, sandwiches, hot dogs, chowder and ice cream. In 1954 miniature golf was added followed in 1958 by an amusement park for young children called Funland. Some of the rides were a Ferris wheel, Merry-Go-Round, Kiddies Boats, Roller Coaster and Train ride. The famous and well known Funland entrance sign was the Jolly Cholly clown or otherwise known as Mr. JC.
