Description: A scarce, mint John Jenkins set from their Battle on the Monongahela 1755 series in the wider French and Indian War range. This depicts two men of the 44th Regiment of Foot during the disastrous battle, also known as Braddock's Defeat. The Regiment had been raised (as the 55th) in 1741 and had seen action in the Jacobite Rebellion of 1745, and later in Flanders at the close of the War of the Austrian Succession. After peacetime reductions and garrison duty, the Regiment (now numbered the 44th) sailed to America in 1755 and were in action mere months after their arrival. They suffered badly at the Monongahela, a precursor to the string of reversals and defeats that comprised the Regiment's unfortunate record in the war. This set is #31 of a limited edition of 375. It is in mint condition and comprises two figures. The box is in excellent condition and the certificate is included. This was part of a large collection that was stored in a pet and smoke free, climate controlled facility. Domestic Shipping is $6. I do combine shipping so please view my other auctions!
