Description: An impressive oil painting by John James Wilson of Loch Goli in the Scottish highlands, it is signed and dated 1869. John Wilson is a well listed English artist that is also known for his maritime paintings. The painting is very well rendered and the technique he used to create the misty atmosphere is just splendid. Overall, it is in good condition for age with surface wear including some toning to varnish, scattered paint loss mainly around edges, stretcher bar impression, scattered craquelure, etc. Once framed, the paint loss around the edges (which is frequently seen on older paintings) would be obscured.
