Description: This is from my own collection I am not a dealer, in the next few months I am selling off part of my collection, some rarities and collectable, no filler! Thanks for looking! The record is graded as Near mint condition So difficult to find in mono its 56 for sale as we have a duplicate copy Has the rarer `Valentini` credit for Hey Joe , later copies credited to Billy Roberts, Jimi learned this slower arranged old song while living and playing in Greenwich Village from Tim Rose and took it to Nashville and Clarksville with Billy Cox in mid 60s after short Army service. The backing vocals are by Legendary British trio the "Breakaways" who had backed sixties megastars Petula Clark, Dusty Springfield and Cliff Richard on many albums and singles. It's one of the few Jimi's Experience arrangements where alternative vocals were used. Really got to hear this in Mono as it launched Jimi's rise in UK charts and Europe. The record is graded as Nr mint condition `THIS IS close to mint if you want a perfect this is not but a very decent copy its quality original 56 year old owned vinyl, not a cheap reissue, really nice fat late 60s slab press way above average weight. light surface lines and handling wear. This was rolled out fast in 1968 following the release of "Are you Experienced" and "Axis Bold as Love" the singles "Wind Cries Mary" " Hey Joe" and "Purple Haze" were not included in the UK versions of the Debut "Are You Experienced" Album so responding to requests Chas Chandler gave Jimi's fans what they wanted... "Smash Hits" 1968 MONO is a great one to partner "Are You Experienced" and you get the vibe of 67/68 in swinging London where these were recorded, Jimi was playing most nights and recording in London whenever he could., this is the legacy... this is exactly how Jimi wanted it to sound. If you want a nice monovinyl collectable that you can play and enjoy this is for you.... nr mint vinyl , superb.. The great running order chose by Jimi and Chaz Chandler for the UK market means never a dull moment, great cover nuff said... photos of Jimi's Mayfair London residence are not included its where a lot of these songs were written in bed though according to Jimi, also the Royal Mail postbox outside Jimi'shome is where he posted his postcards home to his Dad Al about his success in London 66 and 67..... The record A2 B2 Mono Sleeve has the normal very light laminate creasing of the sleeve see photos its 56 years old , no rips tears , has little ringwear. see photos. has the normal laminate creasing to front parts of the sleeve ``see photo`this is common on this sleeve at 56, great copy, few are far between these in nr mint. no writing, names, or tears, in good plus shape for 55 plus years kept safe in its pvc sleeve for many years...smoke free! light ringwear from storage. The first two albums were recorded 67/68 for MONO and the engineers knew what they were doing, later in 68 came the stereo versions which have some clever sound affects and panning but our favourite is the MONO Jimi had his ear in here well and truly and knew what he wanted. This has not been cleaned a professional clean could help, this is individual so we don't do it! There is some static in quieter places.... This is on A2B2 matrixes placing it near the start closest to the masters. This is the first press, we have not seen earlier versions and the audio on this one is outstanding and really clean and punchy on our Rega 3 no skips or jumps and only some light static in some places. The cover Excellent with some very light laminate creases `see photos` and some light ring wear from its 56 years (see photos)it a good solid spine no rips or tears. some removal soling and handling wear on the rear matt white cover 56 years or in and out! Ex the cover. No damage rips tears or writing all good. Also has its original inner `MADE IN GREAT BRITAIN` IN GOOD ORDER.
