Description: A rare issue of Mojo Navigator, Vol 2, No 2, dated August 1967. Mojo Navigator was arguably the first rock fanzine; begun in 1966 by David Harris and Greg Shaw, it chronicled the San Francisco/Bay Area rock scene, and later, the rock music scene at large. Issues are extremely rare, as it was available only by subscription and at a few retail outlets. This issue features a four page interview with The Doors, a four page recap of the Monterey Pop Festival, a three page joint review of the debut albums from The Grateful Dead, Moby Grape, and Country Joe & The Fish (all today regarded as psychedelic rock classics,) and a three page review of the Are You Experienced by the Jimi Hendrix Experience (the UK issue, as it had not yet been released in the United States.) At the time of this piece, Hendrix had only released one single in the United States, his debut 'Hey Joe,' though the Experience had just played the Monterey Pop Festival and Fillmore. David Harris's review/article begins 'Jimi Hendrix, Noel Redding and Mitch Mitchell are without a doubt the most important musical, and in some ways, dramatic, happening in the world today.' The cover story article is filled with interesting and little known trivia, such as Hendrix, 'when asked to perform certain songs from the album, admitted he had forgotten them, and them, and stated that he had made them up at the session and had never played them since!' 40 pages, in excellent condition, with a small chip to the back page. A rare artifact from the psychedelic era.
