The Moonshine V2 has the same basic sound as the version 1, but it has a new "Clean" knob that allows you to add a clean signal to the overdrive signal. The new model is available in the following sizes. A simple "Proof" toggle switch allows you to switch from low-gain distortion that breaks up like an amp to distortion that sounds like an amp at full 10. The "C" in the name of the "C" stands for "cover". Switching the switch to the lower position provides a high-gain setting that produces a saturated sound with a long sustain. The upper position produces a more open crunch sound with more headroom and volume range. The tone control is very smooth and does not produce the annoying high frequencies that are often noticeable when the overdrive is set to a brighter setting. Like the JHS SuperBolt, the Moonshine is internally boosted from 9V to 18V, so you can actually get the headroom, low end, and punch you would get at 18V with a 9V power supply.
