This change was reflected in their coinage. Gone were the images of emperors replaced instead with images of Jesus Christ and religious inscriptions called "Christo grams". The reverse side of the coin offered here carries an image of a Latin cross on large crescent. These coins represent significant change in the world's religious direction and have become highly collectible. The coin offered is classed as a "J" and has the following characteristics: Attributed to Alexius I (1081-1118).Obv. Similar to class H and G but with cross behind head with ꞉∙꞉ design in each limb of cross, no nimbus. Right hand raised in benediction, left holding book of Gospels. Upper field has crescent, lower field has IC-XC as usual.Rv. Latin cross on large crescent with globule and two pellets at each extremity. Angled field between cross limbs contains globule surrounded by pellets.
