Description: This is a multiple edition by the American artist Jenny Holzer (b. 1950, Ohio). In 1994, Holzer published her first edition of 17 screen-printed postcards. In 2000, a second edition was published by Fotofolio/Artpost. This card is from that series, using texts from her Truisms series, comprising a set of aphorisms, maxims, and slogans the artist began authoring in 1977. At times contemplative, comedic, dark, and wry, the works have found their way to the public in many forms: inscribed on marble benches, posted on billboards and flyers, and here, as a postcard that may be held, displayed and circulated via post. The front and back of the card is screen-printed in red ink onto 1/8" birch veneer balsa wood, and measures 3.5" x 5.5" (9.0 cm x 14.0 cm). It is in excellent unused condition with inherent features from fabrication.
